
PDAC 2024 – the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada, held its annual International Convention, Trade Show & Investors Exchange in Toronto, Ontario, Canada from March 1 to 6, 2024. According to its web site, “PDAC exists to protect and promote the interests of the Canadian mineral exploration sector and to ensure a robust mining industry in Canada. The PDAC will encourage the highest standards of technical, environmental, safety and social practices in Canada and internationally.” and the “PDAC International Convention, Trade Show & Investors Exchange is the world’s leading Convention for people, companies and organizations in, or connected with, mineral exploration.” [pdac.ca]
PDAC 2024 – More than 26,000 Delegates:
The PDAC’s annual convention is an important international meeting for the mineral exploration and development community attracting in excess of 26,000 delegates and 1,100 exhibitors from over the globe. According to its organizer, “The Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) was thrilled to welcome 26,926 participants to Toronto for the best business, investment and networking opportunities in the mineral exploration and mining industry.” [press release]
“PDAC 2024 carried forward the Convention’s 92-year legacy, serving as the premier venue for unveiling new trends, technological innovations, and industry discussions,” said PDAC President Ray Goldie. “Once again, PDAC was proud to showcase a rich array of programming including capital markets, Indigenous relations, student and early career development, and sustainability.”

Keynote speakers included Jakob Stausholm, CEO, Rio Tinto; Michael Stanley, Mining Lead, The World Bank; Denise Johnson, Group President, Resource Industries Caterpillar Inc. and Wojtek Wodzicki, the Lundin Group Vicuña Exploration Team.
Programs & Events & Etc.
The PDAC 2024 convention included the Trade Show & Investors Exchange, Core Shack, Prospectors Tent, the Keynote program, programs, CSR events, technical & training programs, the PDAC Annual General Meeting, the Aboriginal Program, and the Women in Mining’s annual Mining for Diversity Program & Reception, many lunches such as the as well as many private events where mining themes are expanded. The Keynote Program consisted of the Commodity outlook, Mining industry outlook, Technology and Innovation, and the Discovery of the year. Individual Programs included Indigenous, Capital Markets, Sustainability, Technical, Exploration Insights, Investment Leaders Forum and Short Courses. There is also a Student & Early Career Program for the many mining students attending. The PDAC networking events including: The Network, Awards Gala & Nite Cap, Student-Industry Mixer, Pub Night Finale.









CSE Annual PDAC Investor Luncheon:
The CSE Annual PDAC Investor Luncheon provided companies primarily listed on the CSE two minutes to showcase the value of their shares. It was followed by a heated panel discussion: Short Selling Fact and Fiction. Hosted by Anna Serin, with the participation of Richard Carleton, CEO of CSE; John Chishold; and Terry Lynch. The panelists discussed the negative effects of bots and short selling on their stock prices and the effect it has on the ability of junior mining companies to raise capital.
