Superstar musician Avril Lavigne and legendary comedian Rick Mercer are inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame 2023 on its 25th anniversary gala on December 2, 2023 in Toronto at the MTCC. The 25th Canada’s Walk of Fame Awards Celebration broadcast airs Saturday, December 16 at 7 p.m. ET on CTV.
The other 2023 Inductees were:
- The Honourable Rosalie Silberman Abella
- Michael Budman & Don Green, Founders of the iconic Roots Canada, inducted this year
- Tantoo Cardinal
- Connor McDavid
- Linda Schuyler, co-creator of the 2023 inducted franchise, Degrassi
- Gary Slaight
The 2023 Honourees (not Inducted) are Kardinal Offishall, Allan Slaight Music Impact Honouree and Autumn Peltier, 2023 Canada’s Walk of Fame Community Hero.
Avril Lavigne:
Avril Lavigne is a Canadian international superstar musician! She is selling more than 50 million albums worldwide and she has eight GRAMMY® Award nominations in categories such as “Best New Artist” and “Song of the Year” twice for “Complicated” and “I’m with You.” Halle Burnette, Fefe Dobson, and Vi sang her greatest hits. George Stromboulopoulos presented the award to Avril Lavigne.
Rick Mercer
Rick Mercer is truly a legendary political satirist at CBC Television. He starred in the Rick Mercer Report for fifteen until 2018 and series won the 2018 Canadian Screen Awards ceremony “for its ongoing contribution to the media industry within Canada and globally.” Jann Arden (2006 Inductee) presented the award to Rick Mercer.
